Foreign Funding for Associations, Non-Profits Reaches JD26.6M-Planning Ministry

Amman: The volume of Cabinet-approved foreign funding for Jordanian associations, non-profit companies, and cooperative unions reached JD 26.6 million during the first half of this year, allocated to implement 175 projects nationwide.

According to data released by Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, non-profit companies secured 51.8% of the funding, while registered associations garnered 48%, and cooperative societies received 0.2%.

The data showed that JD 13.8 million were allocated to 41 non-profit companies to carry out 50 enterprises, with an average project funding of JD280,000.

Meanwhile, 92 associations received JD 12.8 million for 124 projects, averaging JD 103,000 per project. Additionally, 1 cooperative society was granted JD 52,000 to implement a single project.

The noted funding priorities focused on the youth sector, social protection, economic development, and women’s empowerment.

The youth sector received JD 6.54 million, making up 24.6% out of the total funding, followed b
y the social protection sector with JD 5.658 million or 21.2%. The economic development sector received JD 2.146 million, constituting 8%, while women’s empowerment was allocated JD 1.902 million, or 7.2%.

However, the sectors of justice, governance, information technology, and agriculture were given lower priority by civil society organizations and the donor community.

Among the donors, the United States topped the list, contributing 42.1% of the foreign funding, while European Union followed with 9.9%, and Germany provided 8.1%, respectively.
