Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar held on Tuesday a meeting with WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on the sidelines of the 75th World Health Assembly (WHA-75) of the WHO, currently held in Geneva.
During his meeting with Adhanom, Abdel Ghaffar shed light on efforts exerted by Egypt to eradicate polio after the WHO allocated 38 million doses of vaccines to combat the disease in the country.
The minister thanked Adhanom for providing all possible support for Egypt to promote its health sector and combat the Covid-19 pandemic.
For his part, Adhanom lauded efforts exerted by Egypt to combat diseases through its presidential public health initiatives.
He expressed his appreciation of Egypt’s efforts to keep the country free of polio through regular vaccination campaigns launched by the Ministry of Health and Population to vaccinate children aged under 5 years.
