The Minister of Health, Fahd bin Abdul Rahman Al-Jalajil, attended an urgent meeting of the extraordinary session of the Arab Health Ministers Council yesterday to discuss recent developments in the health conditions in Sudan. The virtual meeting was chaired by the President of the 58th session of the council, the Algerian Minister of Health, Dr. Abdelhak Saihi.
During the meeting, the minister reaffirmed the spirit of Arab brotherhood and highlighted the suffering of the health system in the Republic of Sudan. The issues discussed were the lack of services in hospitals in Khartoum, the difficult access of medical staff to their workplace, and their inability to perform their tasks and responsibilities.
In addition, the minister noted that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s evacuation efforts for more than 5,200 people of 100 nationalities from Sudan to the Kingdom were a continuation of the initiatives and directives of the wise leadership. Both Saudis and non-Saudis who were evacuated received all necessary medical care.
Furthermore, the minister emphasized that Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), is evaluating the human needs in the area, examining methods of access, and coordinating with concerned organizations and ministries in Sudan to overcome obstacles and ensure that aid reaches beneficiaries.
