Makkah: The Holy Makkah Municipality’s general administration for beautification and facilities has carried out an urban improvement project on Al-Masjid Al-Haram Road, which witnesses great traffic, especially during Hajj season, when large numbers of pilgrims use it.
The project is part of the municipality’s ongoing efforts to beautify Makkah and improve its streets.
Works are carried out on a stretch extending from Al-Ghaza to Al-Rawdah Bridge, an important area that houses a large number of hotels and commercial establishments.
Works on the road included laying interlocking tiles on a 20,000-square-meter area, rehabilitating bridges over a 3,500-square-meter stretch, laying kerbstones along 4,000 meters of road, and granite on a 1,425-square-meter area, mounting 115 meters of guardrails, and painting buildings and fences in a 20,000-square-meter area.
At the same time, 55 new benches and waste bins were installed to boost the services provided to citizens and visitors.
The project, an important ventu
re carried out by the Makkah municipality, also aims to open up investment in the infrastructure and services sector, and commercial opportunities. It aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030 goals of improving the quality of life of citizens and enriching the pilgrims’ experience.
