Abu Dhabi: Military exchanges and firing between India and Pakistan have officially ceased as of 5 pm Indian time (3:30 pm UAE time) on May 10.
According to Emirates News Agency, India's Minister for External Affairs, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, announced that both countries have reached an understanding to halt all firing and military actions. This development was further elaborated by India's Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, during a media briefing. He stated that the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan communicated via a hotline earlier in the day, agreeing that both nations would immediately cease all military actions on land, air, and sea.
The DGMOs have instructed their respective forces to implement this decision promptly. To ensure the effectiveness and continuation of the ceasefire, the two DGMOs are scheduled to meet again on May 12 to review the cessation of military operations.
