Israeli Army Radio reveals: Ashdod attack perpetrator from Jabalia

BETHLEHEM – Ma’an – The Israeli army radio reported that the perpetrator of the Ashdod operation, which killed an Israeli police officer and wounded four others, on Tuesday, after being shot, was from Jabalia, north of Gaza. It noted that he was in Israel before the war and remained there “for a whole year,” while Israeli reports indicated that he had moved to live in the Ramallah area in the West Bank in recent years.

Channel 12 reported, citing a source familiar with the investigations, that the police and the Israeli General Security Service (Shabak) are examining whether the perpetrator of the operation had arrived at the site of the operation from Gaza, noting that there is a not insignificant possibility that he is from the Strip. Israel Hayom also reported that “one of the trends in the investigations is that the perpetrator is a resident of Gaza.”

Police are conducting “extensive searches in the area to find more injured people, or possible suspects” in the area, while Highway 4 was closed to traffi
c following the operation, before the road was reopened to traffic again.

The extremist Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, arrived at the site of the operation, and he reiterated his call for the need to arm the Israelis, considering that his policy has begun to play a role in preventing more casualties in operations, in addition to the Inspector General of Police, Daniel Levy, who was recently appointed to his position.
