Tunis, Saudi Deputy Minister of Education for Universities, Research and Innovation, Dr. Mohammed Al-Sudairy inaugurated here today the Arabic Calligraphy Exhibition held by King Abdulaziz Public Library in partnership with the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO) during the meeting of the 26th ALECSO General Conference in Tunisia in the presence of heads of Arab delegations.
The exhibition was inaugurated by ALECSO Director General, Dr. Mohammed Ould Omar who stressed the importance of the support and great efforts being provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in registering the file of Arabic calligraphy on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, and the attention it attaches to this fine art that expresses Arab culture and identity.
Dr. Ould Omar pointed out that the exhibition comes within the efforts of King Abdulaziz Public Library and its attendance, which is an opportunity to enhance cooperation and partnership. He thanked everyone who contributed to the exhibition, noting the organization’s attendance to watch King Abdulaziz Public Library’s assets of these masterpieces and the creativity of calligraphers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
It is noteworthy that King Abdulaziz Public Library has launched the International Exhibition of Arabic Calligraphy simultaneously between Riyadh, Casablanca and Beijing, with the participation of the most famous calligraphers concerned with Arabic calligraphy and its arts which represent the various Islamic eras, and it exhibited more than 200 books on the aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy and its arts.
