Kuwait Hosts 115th Arab Energy Organisation Ministerial Meeting

Kuwait city: The 115th ministerial meeting of the Arab Energy Organisation (AEO) commenced on Sunday under the leadership of Kuwait's Minister of Oil, Tareq Al-Roumi. The assembly of AEO member states aims to tackle organisational priorities and enhance coordination in the context of evolving global energy dynamics.

According to Emirates News Agency, Al-Roumi emphasized in his opening remarks the significance of the meeting amid rapid transformations in the global energy sector. He highlighted the necessity for enhanced coordination, unified perspectives, and sustained cooperation among member states to maintain market stability and elevate the organisation's regional and international standing.

The agenda for the meeting includes discussions on the proposed budget for 2026, a review of recent developments related to initiatives aimed at advancing the organisation's work, and updates on efforts to modernise internal regulations and bylaws. Al-Roumi also mentioned that the ministers will evaluate progress and initiatives, as well as changes within the oil and energy sectors and the shared responsibilities these place on member states.

Al-Roumi reiterated Kuwait's unwavering support for all initiatives and measures undertaken by the AEO to develop its work, keeping pace with global energy transformations and fostering deeper integration among member states. This support aligns with Kuwait's political leadership directives and its active role in promoting Arab energy cooperation and advancing sector-wide coordination.

He also praised the General Secretariat for its role in preparing and organising the meeting, expressing hope that the outcomes would strengthen joint Arab action and contribute to a more stable and sustainable future for the energy sector.

Jamal Al-Loughani, the AEO's Chief, expressed gratitude to the Kuwaiti government for hosting the meetings and supporting the organisation's activities. He commended Al-Roumi's efforts in facilitating the ministerial session, noting that the General Secretariat has been working on a development project since a ministerial council decision was issued. This project is coordinated with a specialised committee and overseen by the Executive Bureau.

Al-Loughani highlighted that the progress made creates a greater responsibility for the Secretariat to continue its work and enhance the organisation's performance. He noted that the AEO is entering a new phase marked by aspirations, opportunities, and challenges that necessitate collective action. He emphasized the ministerial council's pivotal role in coordinating policies and efforts to build a supportive framework for the organisation's future.
