Latvian Official Highlights Culture’s Role in Fostering Understanding Between Nations

Abu Dhabi: Baiba Murniece, Deputy State Secretary at Latvia's Ministry of Culture, emphasized the importance of culture in promoting peace and mutual understanding, stating that it can "help us to build peace, build bridges not walls."

According to Emirates News Agency, Murniece spoke on the sidelines of the Culture Summit Abu Dhabi, where she drew attention to Latvia's leadership in the MONDIACULT consultations for Eastern European countries. The discussions focused on the intrinsic connection between culture and peace as a central theme.

Murniece also contributed to a summit session that examined how cultural cooperation and shared understanding could drive peace and enrich cultural initiatives on a global scale.

She expressed gratitude towards the UAE for hosting the summit, recognizing it as a vital platform for dialogue among policymakers, creatives, and cultural leaders. Murniece commended the UAE's cultural development, particularly in Abu Dhabi, which she described as a hub for innovation in the culture sector.
