Khorfakkan: The fourth edition of the Mango Festival is set to begin on Friday at Expo Khorfakkan, running until 29th June. Organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), in collaboration with the Municipal Council of Khorfakkan and Khorfakkan City Municipality, the festival involves extensive participation from local farmers, agricultural companies, and productive families from across the UAE.
According to Emirates News Agency, this year’s festival is themed “Mango: Our Fruit, Our Wealth” and aims to promote the Eastern Region as a notable agri-tourism destination. The event seeks to support the local economy by empowering farmers and productive families while enhancing the quality and sustainability of domestic agricultural products. It contributes to preserving the UAE’s cultural heritage and advancing the National Food Security Strategy 2051.
The festival will feature over 150 premium local mango varieties, showcasing the UAE’s rich agricultural output. Attendees can enjoy heritage-themed and cultural activities, as well as educational programs designed to improve local production quality and foster knowledge exchange between farmers and agricultural specialists.
The Mango Festival 2025 adds substantial value to the Eastern Region’s heritage and agricultural events portfolio. It serves as a platform to display the quality and diversity of local produce, fosters partnerships among farmers, traders, and agribusinesses, and promotes sustainable development goals while supporting agriculture as a vital economic sector.
Several specialised competitions with valuable prizes are part of this year’s edition. A highlight is the ‘Mango Mazayna’ Competition (the most beautiful mango), set for the festival’s first day. Entries must be locally sourced, defect-free, and weigh no less than 4 kilograms. Winning entries will undergo on-site inspection by a judging panel.
The second day will host the ‘Most Beautiful Mango Basket’ competition, focused on handcrafted presentation aesthetics. The ‘Best Farmer’s Booth’ contest will run throughout the festival, relying on audience votes and requiring a display of at least five different mango varieties.
On the festival’s final day, UAE resident children aged 7 to 12 can participate in the ‘Best Agriculture-themed Video’ competition, encouraging early engagement with farming practices.
The festival promotes awareness among farmers about advanced and sustainable agricultural practices, offering expert-led workshops and training sessions. These efforts align with Sharjah’s strategy to preserve its agricultural heritage and encourage investment in mango cultivation.
