Abu Dhabi: The General Pension and Social Security Authority (GPSSA) announced that Emiratis seeking retirement due to disability or work-related injury can now submit their applications through the 'Ma'ashi' platform, but only after a comprehensive medical evaluation. This evaluation, crucial for the approval process, must be conducted and sanctioned by a designated medical committee once the employing entity completes all necessary procedures.
According to Emirates News Agency, over the past year, the GPSSA received 479 'Work Fitness Assessment' applications through the Ma'ashi platform. Out of these, 130 applications were approved based on the established criteria for disability and unfitness-to-work.
Both government and private sector employers are required to submit the assessment application via Ma'ashi for any employee deemed medically unfit to continue working. The submission must include a certified medical report approved by a UAE-based government hospital within the past six months, an initial medical examination conducted at the time of employment, a valid Emirates ID, and a recent personal photo.
Applications that fulfill GPSSA's criteria are forwarded to a medical committee formed by the Ministry of Health and Prevention. This committee is responsible for evaluating cases of total disability or non-fitness under the federal pension and social security law. Upon approval, the insured individual becomes eligible for a pension without the need for a minimum service period.
Subsequently, employers must complete the end-of-service procedures via Ma'ashi, which involves uploading the medical committee's approval. Pension payments are determined based on the insured's actual contribution period, with a minimum threshold of 15 years or the total period contributed if it exceeds this threshold.
