Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, visited the 'Edge of Government' exhibit, a major feature of the World Governments Summit 2025, showcasing top government innovations from around the globe. Accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Sheikh Mohammed explored various innovative projects aimed at improving government functions and societal quality of life.
According to Emirates News Agency, the visit underscored Sheikh Mohammed's commitment to fostering innovation as a crucial aspect of government operations. He emphasized the responsibility of governments to integrate innovation across all sectors, highlighting its importance in enhancing community quality of life and securing a promising future for upcoming generations. During the visit, Sheikh Mohammed was joined by key figures such as H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Mohammad Al Gergawi, illustrating the event's significance in Dubai's strategic vision.
Sheikh Mohammed praised the projects showcased at the Edge of Government exhibit, noting how the World Governments Summit serves as a platform for celebrating and stimulating innovation worldwide. The Edge of Government exhibit is organized by the Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation and supported by First Abu Dhabi Bank. It offers an interactive experience encouraging unconventional thinking to address global challenges.
The exhibition features 10 standout innovations from over 150 projects worldwide, competing for the Edge of Government Award. These projects span 19 countries, including the USA, Kenya, Italy, Australia, and the UK, each representing unique solutions to specific challenges. Notable projects include the 'Digital Food Twin Model' from the USA, Italy's 'Volontari SOS' crisis response platform, and Australia's 'Dragonfly Thinking' approach to policymaking.
Other innovations include the 'Palau Pledge' for sustainable tourism, the 'Fridgeconomics' economic analysis method from the UK, and a UK-Cameroon initiative leveraging AI for community empowerment in genetic surveying. The Netherlands' 'Hacking Method' for social care and Poland's oyster-based bio-monitoring system for water quality are also featured.
The World Governments Summit 2025 brings together over 30 heads of state, more than 80 international organizations, and 140 government delegations, with an agenda exploring future trends and transformations through numerous forums, sessions, and meetings.
