Sharjah: Nine graduates of the Al Amal School for the Deaf were honoured at the closing event, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS) concluded the 2025-2026 academic year with a ceremony at the Qasr Al Thaqafa theatre.
According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Dr Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, was present, along with Sheikha Jameela bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of SCHS. In her address, Sheikha Jameela emphasized the importance of community partnership in broadening access to services and fostering a culture of inclusion and equal opportunity. She acknowledged the significant role of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, in supporting SCHS's mission.
Sheikha Jameela commended the students and graduates for their hard work and achievements over the year, attributing their success to determination, effort, and collaboration among students, families, teaching staff, and SCHS's partners. She reiterated that investing in people is the most valuable form of investment and emphasized the potential of people with disabilities to contribute to national development when given fair opportunities.
SCHS's vision is rooted in empowerment, inclusion, and advocacy, aiming to build a comprehensive service system that ensures the rights of people with disabilities to education and participation in society. Sheikha Jameela congratulated the graduates and their families, reaffirming SCHS's commitment to its mission of supporting and empowering people with disabilities.
The ceremony began with the UAE national anthem and Quran recitations, followed by Sheikh Dr Salem Bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi honouring the nine graduates from Al Amal School for the Deaf. The event also celebrated the contributions of sponsors, parents, and families, with commemorative photos taken. Attendees watched a short film featuring parents expressing gratitude for SCHS's support.
Students performed a play titled "My Brother," exploring themes of disability, family, and reconciliation. Sheikh Dr Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi also visited the Art for All Centre exhibition, "Falaj," which showcased 30 paintings by SCHS students on themes of life, environment, and friendship.
