Singapore, Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) President Dr. Abdullah bin Sharaf Al-Ghamdi has stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a global leader in promoting responsible innovation in advanced technologies, which ensures a balance between benefiting from technical advancements and preserving the values and security of society. This is especially considering the advanced technical revolution in our world today in various technical fields, including data technologies and artificial intelligence (AI).
His remarks came in a speech delivered on Online Safety at the G2G Ministerial Meeting held during the ATxSummit organized by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore under the theme “Reshaping Technology for a Better Future.’ The meeting was attended by several ministers of communications, technology, and AI, as well as experts and specialists in data and AI from around the world.
Dr. Al-Ghamdi highlighted the efforts made by SDAIA in achieving a balance betwe
en monitoring the impact of technologies and benefiting from them, including the data and privacy legislative environment initiative, which was provided to small and medium enterprises (SMEs), startups, and entrepreneurs as a platform for experimentation and growth, while ensuring data privacy.
He added that this initiative provides guidance, organizational flexibility, and a collaborative testing environment, making it a role model in responsible technical development. This involves creating environments that enable industry stakeholders to develop groundbreaking technologies while prioritizing ethical considerations and user safety.
The SDAIA president concluded by calling on everyone to participate in the third annual Global AI Summit, which will be held in September in Riyadh. He indicated that the summit is a great opportunity to share best practices and form a united front against digital threats.
