Students from 50 Nationalities Participate in Bebras Mawhiba; Results to be Announced Monday

Riyadh, In the first participation of its kind, students from 50 nationalities residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has recently participated in a competition, where 38,000 students from inside and outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have participated in the competition. King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness (Mawhiba) will announced its results during an official ceremony under the patronage of Mawhiba Secretary General Dr. Amal Al-Hazzaa on Monday November 21, 2022.

Director of Competitions Department at Mawhiba Badr Al-Mijthari said that “Bebras Mawhiba Competition targets public education students in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia between the third elementary and third secondary classes, where a total of 38,041 students, including 34,843 Saudis, have registered for this year’s competition from various regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where 35,743 students sat for the exam.

He noted that Bebras this year saw a wide participation of 3,198 Arab and international students within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia belonging to 50 nationalities across the world, noting that the most enrolled were Arab students, where Egyptian students came first with 850 students, followed by 559Yemeni students, then 496 Syrian students, 449Jordanian students, 274Sudanese, then the rest of the Arab countries. As for non-Arab students, the highest number of students was for Pakistanis with 61. Tunisian students totaled 55, 46 Palestinians, 34 Indians, 24 Afghanis, 23 Lebanese and 21 from the United States.

The Bebras Challenge is the gateway to nominating and joining the Saudi team of informatics and representing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the International Informatics Olympics, after Bebras was adopted as the main entrance to the International Olympics Talent Program instead of Mawhoob (Talented) Competition.

Bebras is an international competition aimed at promoting computational informatics and thinking among school students of all ages, using a range of problem-solving skills and techniques, in which more than 2 million students from more than 70 countries participated.

The Bebras Competition consists of a series of short online problems called Bebras missions, which can be solved without prior knowledge, but requires logical thinking and resolving as many problems as possible within the allocated time.
