Baghdad, Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Hassan Nazim, discussed with Syria’s Ambassador in Baghdad, Sattam Jadaan al-Dandah, means to boost cooperation between two countries in the cultural, tourism and archaeological fields.
Iraq and Syria have a long history and a common depth of civilization, and the events that took place in them have targeted their cultural heritage, Minister Nazim said according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Culture.
Minister Nazim added that the Ministry of Culture has developed joint plans and treatments in the framework of the sustainability of cooperation in the various sectors of culture, arts and heritage, such as holding the Syrian Film Week in Baghdad, whose activities were concluded on Tuesday with the participation of senior Syrian artists.
Nazim went on to say that the Ministry of Culture will establish a series of joint projects, including the formation of a coordination office for researchers and specialists in culture and arts to ensure communication between both countries and to continue organizing cultural activities and events, in addition to finding mechanisms for coordination in the field of culture and tourism.
In a statement to SANA correspondent in Baghdad, al-Dandah shed light on the importance of enhancing Syrian-Iraqi cooperation in the fields of culture, tourism and archeology to overcome the challenges facing the two brotherly countries.
The Ambassador hailed the Syrian Film Week in Baghdad and the great governmental and popular welcome to Syrian artists.
He underlined the importance of unifying stances between Syria and Iraq at the international forums, particularly the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and others.
