The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity announced today, Wednesday, the start of implementation of Operation ‘Maple’ concerned with searching for internationally wanted persons at Mitiga International Airport.
The Ministry explained through its Facebook account that members of the Directorate of Port Security and Passport Control began implementing the operation using advanced equipment and technologies under the supervision of liaison officers from the authorities concerned with its implementation and the team sent from the General Secretariat of Interpol.
The Ministry added that members of the Directorate of Security and Passport Control at the port received training courses on the use of modern techniques and devices used in this operation, within the framework of joint cooperation with the international organization Interpol to raise the level of security performance of the Ministry’s components and employees.
It is noteworthy that Operation Maple specializes in searching and exam
ining internationally wanted persons, as well as stolen vehicles and forged and stolen travel documents reported internationally through Interpol’s databases.
