Abu Dhabi:Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, expressed his support for the United States' statement on advancing peace efforts in Sudan. He highlighted the importance of the U.S. call for an immediate and unconditional humanitarian truce and a commitment to a comprehensive political dialogue aimed at transitioning to a civilian government.
According to Emirates News Agency, Sheikh Shakhboot commended the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump for preventing Sudan from descending into further extremism and fragmentation. He emphasized the UAE's ongoing support for international efforts to resolve the conflict in Sudan and its dedication to collaborating with partners for a political solution to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
Sheikh Shakhboot also praised the roles of Marco Rubio, U.S. Secretary of State, and Dr. Massad Boulos, U.S. Senior Advisor for Arab and African Affairs, in encouraging parties to cease hostilities and enhance prospects for a political resolution to the crisis in Sudan.
He further advocated for the expansion of the current UN arms embargo to cover the entire territory of Sudan, viewing it as a vital step to stopping hostilities and ensuring the protection of civilians.
