Dubai:President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, along with His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, inaugurated Etihad Rail's Dubai Station, signifying the official launch of the UAE's national passenger rail network.
According to Emirates News Agency, this inauguration marks the beginning of a new phase of expansion for the UAE rail network, which aims to connect more cities and regions across the country. Services between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah are set to commence on September 30, 2026.
Before the inauguration, Sheikh Mohamed traveled aboard Etihad Rail from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, where he reviewed the rail operations, national objectives, and passenger services. Upon arrival, he met with Emirati professionals involved in the project.
During a tour of the station, Sheikh Hamdan and Sheikh Theyab reviewed the station's facilities and operational systems, emphasizing the use of advanced technologies for a seamless travel experience. They also received a briefing on the station's role in the national network and its significance in enhancing connectivity.
Sheikh Hamdan stated that Etihad Rail's Dubai Station will enhance connectivity and support growth, further establishing Dubai as a global hub for business, tourism, and investment. Sheikh Theyab highlighted the project's rapid evolution into a national network that strengthens connectivity and economic competitiveness.
Starting September 30, 2026, Etihad Rail will provide services between Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Fujairah, with tickets available via various platforms. The Dubai Station is integrated with the city's wider transport system, including a connection to the Jumeirah Golf Estates Metro Station and the Nol system, facilitating seamless travel across multiple transport modes.
Passenger services will be operated by Etihad Rail Mobility, a joint venture with Keolis, combining international expertise with local capabilities to deliver a world-class passenger experience.
