UAE Team ADQ’s Safiya Alsayegh secures double victory as UAE National Cycling Champion


ABU DHABI: UAE Team ADQ celebrated another victory as Safiya Alsayegh, a rising Emirati cycling talent, won the ITT UAE National Championship. Safiya’s win in the 20 km race, held in the Nazwa region, solidifies her status as the top Emirati women’s cycling champion.

Coming off her recent road race triumph in Sharjah, Safiya showcased her exceptional skill and commitment once again, while Zahra Hussain of the UAE Development Team secured the silver medal in the same race. Their success reflects UAE Team ADQ’s efforts in fostering local talent and promoting women’s cycling in the region.

Internationally, UAE Team ADQ continued to excel, with Karljin Swinkels, the Dutch rider, securing the “Queen of the Mountains” title for six stages in a row at the Spanish Grand Tour, La Vuelta Femenina. This was followed by victories in France for Silvia Persico and Eleonora Gasparrini at the Grand Prix du Morbihan and La Classique Morbihan, respectively, along with a triple win in Gran Premio della Liberazione de Roma.

Safiya’s triumph in the ITT UAE National Championships further solidifies her position in Emirati women’
s sports, as one of the few representing the UAE internationally, notably at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
