Al-Sayahed, Saudi Arabia, Under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and on behalf of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, today attended the closing ceremony of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival, in its 7th edition, in Al-Sayahed, north of Riyadh.
Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Camel Club and the General Supervisor of the Festival, Fahd Bin Falah Bin Hathleen, delivered a speech in which he said, “The King Abdulaziz Camel Festival is the best application for contemplating the beauty and grandeur of the creation of this creature.”
He revealed that the total number of participating camels increased from 24,000 in the sixth edition to 35,000 in the seventh edition, and the number of participants increased from 1,900 participants in the sixth edition to 2,200 participants in the seventh edition. He praised the concerted efforts and the accuracy of setting goals so authentic heritage becomes one of the most important components that the Kingdom exports to the rest of the world, adding that the goal of the Camel Club is to transform the sector into an integrated economic system that benefits the Saudi community and at the international level.
Bin Hathleen said, “I congratulate, in your name, the champion, the owner of “’Al-Shaddad,’ and announce the victory of Abdul Mohsen bin Saleh Al-Rajhi, who competed with might in most of the competitions and runs of the festival, collecting 2730 points, surpassing the champion of the first edition by more than 1900 points, which reflects the high competitiveness in this event.”
He concluded by saying, “HRH, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, on behalf of the owners of camels, their fans, and their audience, I would like to express my greatest appreciation for your unlimited support and your attendance of this festival on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and we vow to continue our efforts to meet what the leadership of this country aspires to in this vital sector, which reflects a solid and authentic heritage that participated in the march of unification and contributes to the objectives of the ambitious Saudi vision”.
Prince Faisal and the audience listened to a poem presented by poet Sultan bin Batlaa, and then watched a movie and a dramatic scene about the interest of the founder King Abdulaziz Al Saud in camels. Prince Faisal bin Bandar also honored the winners of the King Abdulaziz Camel Racing Award.
