US-UAE Economic Policy Dialogue Highlights Strategic Trade and Investment Initiatives

Abu dhabi: The United States and the United Arab Emirates convened for their eleventh Economic Policy Dialogue in Abu Dhabi, co-chaired by Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Jacob Helberg, Under-Secretary of State for Economic Affairs at the US Department of State.

According to Emirates News Agency, the dialogue underscored the importance of bilateral trade and investment, with the UAE reaffirming its status as the largest US trade partner in the Gulf region. The discussions emphasized the continued prosperity brought by clear regulatory pathways and market openness, with a focus on sectors like critical minerals, advanced technology, energy, manufacturing, and life sciences.

The UAE committed to investing $1.4 trillion in the US over the next decade, bolstering its position as America's primary regional economic partner. Minister Al Hajeri highlighted the significant growth in non-oil trade, noting that by 2024, it surpassed $38 billion, with the first half of 2025 seeing a 3.4 percent year-on-year increase to $19.3 billion.

The dialogue also addressed economic security, with discussions on enhancing trusted supply chains, particularly in advanced manufacturing, AI, and energy. The UAE's leadership in resilient supply chains was highlighted, alongside its commitment to the Pax Silica framework for secure and innovative supply chains foundational to the AI era.

Both nations expressed support for the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, focusing on increasing port and rail capacity. Institutional cooperation was discussed, covering a range of sectors including trade, finance, digital economy, and infrastructure.

The US-UAE AI Acceleration Partnership was reiterated, facilitating advanced AI semiconductor exports to UAE entities, fostering Emirati investment in US AI infrastructure. The proposed five-gigawatt AI campus in the UAE, set to be the world's largest outside the US, was also acknowledged.

Financial cooperation addressed ongoing efforts to counter illicit finance and enhance sanctions coordination. The UAE welcomed the US Treasury Department's Known Investor pilot program for the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.

In sustainability, Minister Al Hajeri noted the UAE's plans to co-host the 2026 United Nations Water Conference, highlighting its leadership in addressing global water challenges. The dialogue reaffirmed the crucial role of the Economic Policy Dialogue in advancing the robust economic relations between the US and the UAE.
