Meta-owned WhatsApp is working on adding a new feature that will allow users to process account verification using the Passkey feature.
Before release, the platform begins Beta Program of the service, which will be rolled out to users after completion of testing.
WABetaInfo reports that the WhatsApp Passkey feature will provide users with a simple way to sign in safely.
As the Passkey will use fingerprint, face, or screen lock to verify identity, this definitely enhances security, adding an extra layer of protection beyond traditional methods like PINs.
In a related context, Google had announced support for logging into Gmail accounts via passkeys, and Apple said it will allow users of its devices to use passkeys with iCloud accounts.
