Abu Dhabi:Youth 4 Sustainability (Y4S), a global platform initiated by the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar), is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, Y4S continues its mission of empowering young individuals to become leaders in sustainability.
According to Wam, Y4S has opened applications for its 2027 programmes, aiming to further its efforts in empowering youth by helping them build skills, networks, and gain practical experience. These programmes are designed to enhance the role of young people in advancing sustainable development worldwide.
The 2027 Y4S programmes offer opportunities for young people to engage with energy sector leaders and benefit from innovations and opportunities in the industry. Applications are now open for the Future Sustainability Leaders programme, which connects university students and young professionals aged 19-35 with global business leaders, policymakers, and technology pioneers, providing practical experience and mentorship.
Additionally, applications are open for the Sustainability Ambassadors programme, targeting senior high-school students aged 15-18 from the UAE. This programme aims to equip participants to become sustainability champions through skills development and networking opportunities.
Participants in Y4S programmes will have the chance to gain practical experience and engage directly with industry, government, and policy leaders. Mentorship from Y4S experts in clean energy, technology, and sustainability will help them develop industry insights and build valuable connections.
Dr. Lamya Fawwaz, Chief Brand and Strategic Initiatives Officer at Masdar, emphasized the platform's role in empowering young people by developing their skills and building connections for a sustainable future. She encouraged young people to join the 2027 cohort and gain from the platform's offerings.

In its decade-long operation, Y4S has engaged over 50,000 young people from more than 30 countries through workshops, activations, and global events. The platform is supported by the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy as its Principal Partner, with programme applications open until November 30, 2026, via the Y4S website.
