Abdulrahman Al Kuwari Re-elected President of Qatar Players Association

Abdulrahman Al Kuwari was re-elected by acclamation as president of Qatar Players Association for a new four-year term, in an Ordinary General Assembly on Monday.

Held in Musheireb, Downtown Doha after the quorum of 237 players was met, the GA also renewed confidence in Ibrahim Al-Ghanim as vice-president and the board members.

Retired footballer Meshal Abdullah was the only new board member to be elected.

Speaking to Qatar News Agency , Al Kuwari said the Association would move forward plans to achieve its goals in cooperation with partners. He added that today’s meeting discussed the annual activities and some financial issues, underscoring the players’ societal roles.

Al Kuwari highlighted that the Association participation in all International Federation of Professional Football Players’ (FIFPro) activities after earning its permanent membership in 2018.

For his part, Al Ghanim hailed the positive atmosphere during the General Assembly elections, stressing plans to continue efforts to protect players and preserve their rights, and to launch partnerships with other football institutions.

Since it was incepted in 2015 as a private institution for public benefit to be the first entity representing football players in the State of Qatar, the Association has made many local and international achievements.
