U.S. Special Envoy Ambassador Richard Norland discussed with Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR), Ageela Saleh, the importance of advancing the political process to allow the Libyan people to elect their leaders, according to the U.S. Embassy on “X.”.
This came during a meeting held yesterday at the HoR’s headquarters in Benghazi in the presence of Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary Harris and Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, Berndt.
‘The delegation expressed appreciation for the work of the 6+6 committee and emphasized the need for institutional stakeholders to come together to address the remaining politically contested issues, including the formation of a caretaker government,’ the embassy said.
‘They also discussed the importance of Libyan leaders from all sides working together to ensure a conducive environment for Libyans to freely choose their representatives as Libya prepares for the upcoming municipal elections,’ it added
