Hamdan bin Mohammed and India’s Commerce Minister Oversee Signing of 8 Strategic MoUs

Mumbai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Defence, alongside Piyush Goyal, India's Minister of Commerce and Industry, witnessed the signing of eight Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance collaboration across various sectors. These sectors include infrastructure, healthcare, higher education, maritime services, logistics, and private sector engagement.

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoUs were formalized at a special event organized by Dubai Chambers in Mumbai, marking part of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed's official visit to India. During the event, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the deep-rooted friendship and shared vision between India and the UAE, focusing on innovation, opportunity, and sustainable growth. He cited the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in guiding the nations towards resilient economies and advancing human development.

In a series of agreements that highlight the importance of business communities in fostering growth, Dubai Chambers signed MoUs with key Indian industry bodies. These include the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), and the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The agreements aim to facilitate mutual business support, enhance trade fairs and investment missions, and promote private sector cooperation.

Further agreements were signed to reinforce UAE-India connectivity and trade infrastructure. DP World partnered with RITES to develop resilient supply chains, leveraging the UAE-India Virtual Trade Corridor. Meanwhile, Drydocks World collaborated with Cochin Shipyard Limited to enhance maritime infrastructure in India, aligning with Maritime India Vision 2030.

In the realm of education, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism signed an MoU with the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad to establish a campus in Dubai, aiming to foster innovation and academic excellence. This initiative aligns with Dubai's Economic Agenda D33.

Healthcare cooperation was also reinforced with the signing of an MoU for the UAE-India Friendship Hospital in Dubai, a joint philanthropic initiative aimed at providing accessible healthcare. Additionally, academic collaboration was strengthened between Dubai Medical University and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, focusing on research and development initiatives in healthcare and medical education.
